Review of abuse allegations against Connemara college founder extended

An inquiry into sex abuse allegations against Connemara college founder, Dónall Ó Lubhlaí, has been extended.

The Department of Justice has confirmed the Department of education and skills and the HSE are now conducting internal reviews.

Last evening, the Garda comissioner also ordered a review of the allegations connected to Coláiste and Cumann na bhfiann.

It's claimed that two opportunities were missed in 1991 and 1998 to prosecute the former TV presenter who died last month.

However, speaking in the Seanad last evening Senator Trevor O' Clochartaigh said that while he welcomed extra reviews more needed to be done.
