Revellers warned over disposing of empties

City revellers have been warned to dispose of their glass booze bottles responsibly or face fines.
Galway City Council has released details of the opening hours for its bring banks – and the public has been warned not to litter.
Many of the bring banks have CCTV cameras in order to detect people who are dumping illegally.
The public has been warned that fines will be issued this Christmas.
“Bring banks are for bottles and clothes banks. Cameras operate on the Western Distributor Road and fines for illegal dumping are issued weekly. I would strongly urge the public to be responsible and not to leave bags or cardboard boxes near the bring banks, or you will be fined,” said Labour Party City Councillor, Niall McNelis.
The following are the opening hours of the City Council’s recycling centre and civic amenity facility: it is closed today (Monday 29th) and reopens on Tuesday and Wednesday December 30 and 31 from 2pm to 4pm. The facilities are closed again on New Year’s Day but are open for one hour between 2pm and 3pm on Friday January 2.
Normal opening hours apply from January 2.
