REPORT SUGGESTS CLOSURE OF SEVEN CONNEMARA GARDA STATIONS

At least seven Garda stations in the Connemara region are facing closure.

It is understood that a formal document is now being circulated in An Garda Síochána which proposes the closure of most of the smaller stations west of the Corrib.

It follows reports this week that up to 200 Garda stations be shut nationwide as the force prepares for cuts to its funding in the upcoming budget.
