Report predicts housing shortages for Galway by 2021
Galway Bay fm newsroom – A new report published today (wed) has predicted significant housing shortages for County Galway by 2021. The report, published by the Economic and Social Research Institute, examines projected population changes and housing demands nationwide. The report predicts that the annual average increase for the county between 2011 and 2021 will be over 1,000 households. It further states that while Galway had a surplus of approximately 17 thousand housing units in 2011, it faces a deficit of approximately 3 thousand housing units by 2021 if no new units are completed. Authour of the report, Edgar Morgenroth, says that housing completions should be accelerated to avoid the projected deficit.
