Oranmore county councillor Jim Cuddy says many people don't realise that it's Eircom's responsibility to move telephone poles.Eircom can no longer charge people to remove dangerous or exposed telephone poles. Up until now, the company has been charging people to move telephone poles left exposed after building works on new houses or boundary walls. Cllr Cuddy says the best way to get them removed is to write to the Chief Executive of Eircom stating that they're a danger to road safety. Cllr Cuddy says, by law, Eircom must act when provided with written evidence of dangerous telephone poles.
