PLAN FOR KIRWAN ROUNDABOUT TO COME BEFORE COUNCIL IN OCTOBER

Date Published: 23-Jul-2012
A variation to the development plan for the removal of the Kirwan roundabout is to come before the city council in October.
City Councillors voted 9 to 6 in favour of removing the Kirwan roundabout at Menlo Park in May.
It's to be replaced by a signalised junction as part of the N6 Bothar na dTreabh scheme.
This will involve diverting a road from the Menlo Park Hotel grounds through to the Headford road.
Work will begin on the Bodkin roundabout at Galway Shopping Centre next month and the roundabout at Corrib Park is also to be included in the overall plan.
Speaking to Galway Bay fm news, Head of Galway Transportation Unit Joe Tansey says it's hoped the variation will come before Councillors in October so that the project can proceed to the next stage,
