PETITION TO BEGIN AGAINST PROPOSED DYKE ROAD RELIEF ROUTE

Date Published: 28-Dec-2007
A petition is to begin in the New Year against a proposed relief route from the Dyke road in the city which it's claimed will increase traffic congestion and is developer-led. The Friends of the Forest campaign say the route running by Terryland Forest Park and the river Corrib to Quincentennial Road will threaten Galway's Green Lungs. Friends of the Forest spokesperson Brendan Smith is reported in today's Irish Times to be stepping up the campaign to save the 120 acre Terryland Forest Park. It's currently a haven for hares, rabbits, swans and other wildlife.
