People Before Profit Alliance to protest at city social welfare office
Galway Bay fm newsroom - A protest against Jobpath and the privatisation of social welfare services will be held in the city tomorrow.
The people before profit alliance are holding the demonstration at the social welfare office on Augustine street at 11am.
It will co-incide with similar protests taking place across the country.
Jobpath is a new programme of employment aimed at the long term unemployed, and tenders have been advertised for private companies seeking to get onboard.
It's already attracted interest from companies such as multinational security firm G4S, Serco and Ingeus.
Spokesperson for the people before profit alliance, Dette McLoughlin claims the plan is simply a bad idea.
