Improving primary care is only a long term solution to the problem of overcrowing at University Hosiptal Galway.

That's according to Galway West TD Derek Nolan who told his Labour party colleague and Junior Health Minister Kathleen Lynch that a more urgent approach needs to be taken to solve the crisis.

The number of people on trolleys has been consistently high at UHG this week and reached 46 at one point today.

Deputy Nolan raised the issue in the Dáil this week and said something needs to be done immediately.
