It’s full steam ahead next week for the oral hearing into the proposed multi-million euro Galway Harbour redevelopment.

An Bórd Pleanála will hold a preliminary oral hearing on Tuesday, January 6, in the Connacht Hotel on the Dublin Road in Galway City.

The planning appeals board has confirmed it will then go to a full oral hearing, in public, the following week, starting on January 13 at 10am in the Connacht Hotel.

More than 120 submissions were made on the planning application, which is why An Bórd Pleanála has decided to hold a preliminary hearing.

An Bórd Pleanála said: “Where possible written statements of evidence to be given should be submitted to the hearing and it will assist the conduct of the hearing if copies of these and any related drawings are made available for circulation.

“Copies of the submissions and observations received by the Board and all other documentation and correspondence relating to the case are available for inspection by appointment at the offices of Galway City Council and also An Bórd Pleanála prior to the hearing. A copy of all correspondence will also be made available for inspection at the oral hearing and a copy of the up-to-date list of all submissions and observations can be viewed on the Bórd Pleanála website..

“Due to the scale and complexity of the case, the board has decided to hold a preliminary meeting of the oral hearing on Tuesday, January 6 2015, prior to the commencement of the substantive oral hearing to facilitate the setting out of a detailed agenda for the substantive hearing.

“Those parties who intend to make an oral submission at the substantive hearing are invited to attend the preliminary hearing. Parties are not obliged to make oral submissions at the hearing. It should be noted that in any event written submissions already submitted will be considered by the board.”
