Number of protesting doctors at UHG swells to 50
Around 50 non-consultant hospital doctors are protesting along the Newcastle road outside University Hospital Galway this afternoon.
They're part of a national strike in which more than 3 thousand doctors are picketing outside 51 hospitals across the country, affecting 15 thousand patients.
Doctors want the HSE to implement a limit on the number of hours a doctor must work in line with the E.U Working Time Directive.
This afternoon the HSE says all postponed appointments at hospitals will be rescheduled as soon as possible.
Speaking at UHG this lunchtime the junior doctors said they won't put up with working long hours anymore.
