NUIG LAND SWAP DEAL SHOT DOWN BY AN BORD PLEANALA

A 'land swap' deal between NUI Galway and property owners on Newcastle Road in the city has been shot down. An Bord Pleanála has rejected the University's plan because the area is zoned for Institutional and Community use. Under the deal, NUIG bought properties on Newcastle Road in order to demolish them and build a new entrance to the University.
