No Galway bus Eireann services operating as staff picket bus depot
Bus Éireann drivers are maintaining a picket outside the bus depot at the docks in the city this afternoon.
The action means there are no Bus Éireann services currently operating out of Galway.
It's part of a nationwide day of protest by drivers affiliated with the national bus and rail union, against over 5 million euro worth of cuts to their overtime and premium pay
The majority of services nationwide are disrupted, and the union say strike action will continue until management are willing to go back into negotiations.
However, it will not affect school services next week.
Around 70 percent, or over 100 Galway bus Eireann drivers are affiliated with the NBRU.
It's understood the remaining drivers with other unions have also decided not to cross the picket line.
From today, Bus Éireann is implementing the cuts in line with Labour court recommendations.
The company says it will lose 200-thousand euro for every day that the strike continues.
And Spokesperson for Bus Éireann Andrew McLindon says this industrial action is putting jobs and the future viability of the company at risk.
