It's hoped fewer children and teenagers suffering psychiatric distress in Galway will have to placed in adult psychiatric hospitals this autumn. The number of beds at St Anne's Children's Centre on Taylor's Hill is to be increased to ten following renovations by the HSE to boost their adolescent mental health services. The increase in capacity at St Anne's to ten beds will mean that more children can be cared for in appropriate surroundings and not have to be sent to an adult psychiatric ward.
