Merlin Woods campaigners to brief city councillors and officials
Galway Bay fm newsroom - The Friends of Merlin Woods group is to make a presentation to city councillors at a meeting later today.
The group is against plans for a bus corridor through Merlin Park Woods due to environmental and heritage conservation concerns.
A petition has also been launched in a bid to gauge the level of local opposition to the project.
Peter Butler of Friends of Merlin Woods will lead the presentation and address a joint meeting of all four City Council special policy committees.
It gets underway at 3 this afternoon in the Menlo Park Hotel.
Speaking to Galway Bay fm news, he says dividing the park with roads will destroy the unique wildlife in the area.
