Meeting in Gort to debate new CAP deal for farmers

Galway Bay fm newsroom - A meeting to debate the new common agricultural policy or CAP deal, as well its impact on Galway farmers, takes place in Gort tomorrow

The new CAP agreed by the EU is due to run until 2020, and introduces a new architecture of direct payments.

Fianna Fáil is hosting the meeting, and agriculture spokesperson Galway West TD Éamon Ó Cuív will also outline the party's alternative CAP proposals.

It takes place at the Lady Gregory Hotel in Gort at 8.30 tomorrow night.

Deputy Ó Cuív wants the Government to consider alternative proposals to the CAP scheme.
