Marie comes home to Clifden

Clifden musician Marie Walsh has been selected to take part in the annual Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann national concert tour of Ireland, Macalla na hÉireann.
This year’s tour runs from October 10-24, visiting 13 venues throughout the country and Marie is among 14 musicians, singers and dancers who have been drawn from all corners of Ireland for the event.
Because Marie has been included in the line-up, Clifden has been selected to host one of the concerts. That will take place on Monday, October 18 and will be hosted by the Clifden Branch of Comhaltas. The venue will be the Station House Theatre and the start time 8.00pm.
This year’s tour features a host of well know performers and All-Ireland champions. The show itself will be a well rehearsed colourful showcase of the best of Irish music, song and dance, and if you think you’ve landed in the wrong century, it’s because all the performers are in medieval costumes!
It’s the first time the Comhaltas tour has come west of Galway City and with the added bonus of a local person being on the tour, it’s one not to miss.
Tickets are €20 for adults and €12 for those under 16. Tickets are limited and booking is advised. To book tickets please call 086-4015342. Tickets are also for sale in Clifden in The Bens Music Shop, Lowrys Bar, Kings Hairdressers, Central Bar and Eammon McLoughlin Auctioneers.
