A man was rescued from the Galway Docks last evening after he got into difficulty with his boat.

Galway RNLI Lifeboat came to the man's assistance after his 8-foot rigid inflatable boat broke down at about 5pm close to Nimmo’s Pier and started taking on water.

The Irish Coastguard were alerted who sought Galway Lifeboat’s assistance.

The crew arrived within minutes, took the man onboard, and towed the rib to the slipway at the new Ocean Sports Centre in Galway Docks.

The man was not seriously injured in the incident.
