MAN ARRESTED OVER BRIARHILL ARMED RAID

A 21 year old man is being questioned at Milstreet Garda station this morning in connection with an armed raid at a business in the Briarhill shopping centre.

A lone raider entered a betting shop with a sawn off shotgun at around half past four yesterday, and demanded cash.

He fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.

In a follow up operation, Gardaí arrested a 21 year old man in the city and located cash nearby.

They also detained a green BMW car, which is understood to be associated with the incident.

The man is being held at Milstreet Garda station under section 30 of the offences against the state act.
