Major climate symposium to take place in Galway

Galway Bay fm newsroom - A major symposium on climate change will take place in Galway this weekend.

It's organised by the Irish Met Society and NUIGalway to highlight the ongoing work in Ireland to research and monitor our atmosphere.

The symposium, which will get underway at 10.45am on Saturday at the Martin Ryan Annex Lecture Theatre at NUIG, will include presentations on data from Met Éireann, the EPA and the Marine Institute.

The special event will also include a trip to the NUIG Atmospheric Research Station at Mace Head in Connemara on Sunday.

It's open to the public and relevant people in local authorities, farming and climate organisations for a small fee.

President of the Irish Met Society, Paul Halton says climate monitoring is important for the future.
