Date Published: 16-Oct-2008
Bone fragments found in Loughrea town have been identified as human. An archaeologist from the Department of the Environment established that the bones may have come from the graveyard which is beside a footpath being repaired. The find was immediately reported to local Gardaí who said they were not treating the discovery as suspicious.A special textile layer will now cover the site where the fragments were found, and the State archaeologist will monitor the remainder of the works being carried out by council workers.
