Lord Mayor of Dublin highlights West's political influence on East as he visits Connemara
The Lord Mayor of Dublin and Spiddal native Naoise O Muiri says the west has had a huge influence on the capital.
Speaking at this afternoon's meeting of the local authority, he said Dublin too had its fair share of challenges but pointed to successful services such as free wi-fi and the bike scheme.
Galway Bay fm news reports the Fine Gael Councillor was invited to today's meeting by Tom Welby who is approaching the end of his tenure as county Mayor.
Naoise O Muiri who represents the Clontarf ward of Dublin, was accompanied by his mother and father at the meeting which is taking place in Oughterard golf club.
Earlier, he travelled to Spiddal for a function at The Lord Mayor's former school Colaiste Chroi Mhuire and was presented with a model of the Galway hooker.
