Today is the last day Aer Arann will operate flights from Galway Airport.

It comes as it suspends its services from the Carnmore facility for the winter season.

The Carnmore airport is to be downgraded to a category two facility.

47 staff at the airport will be let go as it will just accommodate general aviation.

Several key posts such as air traffic control and fire-fighting services are being retained.
