Kate celebrates Christmas in June

THE GALWAY student who was seriously injured when a traffic cone was hurled off a bridge in Edinburgh last December finally celebrated abelated Christmas - last weekend.Friends, family and neighbours of Kate Flannery decided to make up for the fact she was lying in the spinal injuries unit of a Glasgow hospital, uncertain about whether she would walk again last Christmas Eve.So up went the Christmas tree and unseasonal decorations in her local, Ward’s Hotel in Salthill, on Saturday night with 100 well-wishers celebrating Christmas six months late as much as they were hailing the miraculous recovery of the 24-year-old from Beech Court.
