Inspection of Galway autism centre highlights serious concerns

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A HIQA inspection of a home for people with autism in Galway has highlighted a series of issues relating to health and safety and residents' rights. The centre, run by Autism West Ltd, was found to be non-compliant across 10 areas during an announced inspection in March this year. Areas of non-compliance noted by the health watchdog include communications, social care and healthcare needs. It also highlights major issues with medication management and health and safety. The report sets out an action plan of urgent improvements to be carried out at the centre, which the service has agreed to implement.
