HSE WEST OUTLINES CUTBACKS TO UNIONS

Date Published: 26-Sep-2011
The HSE has told trade unions they need to claw back €50 million from their budget in the West before the end of the year.
SIPTU, IMPACT and the INMO met with HSE West managers this afternoon to discuss the budget deficit and cost containment measures.
The ongoing A&E crisis at University Hospital Galway was also discussed.
Some of the longer-term measures outlined by the HSE to slash their budget deficit include cutting overtime, cutting agency overtime and cutting staff numbers by 750 overall this year.
Impact's Paraic Mulligan said the trade unions are shocked at the extent of the cutbacks.
