HSE to fill geriatrician consultant post at Portiuncula following delay

Galway Bay fm newsroom – The HSE has moved to fill a consultant geriatrician post at Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe which has been vacant for over a year. The position became vacant in March 2013, and the HSE received approval to appoint a replacement three months later. Following representations by Roscommon South Leitrim TD Denis Naughten, the Minister for Health has confirmed that after interviews in May, the position has been offered. The HSE is awaiting a response from the successful candidate. Deputy Naughten says the appointment is vital for older people in the area.
