A funding pilot project for orthopaedic patients at Galway’s public hospitals has resulted in an increase in the number of treatments being carried out.
Under the scheme 11 extra patients were treated for hip and knee replacement surgeries at Merlin Park Hospital in the last six months of 20-11.
Clinical director for the Galway Roscommon hospital group David O' Keefe says they are very pleased with the results which also reduced patients average length of stay by almost two days.
