Galway bay fm newsroom - A Tuam town councillor says the HSE's decision to convert a church at a nursing home into extra rooms is a retrograde and uneccesary step.

Tom Reilly says public representatives were not made aware of the plans for Aras Mhuire nursing home on the outskirts of Tuam and works are already underway. In a statement, the HSE says the remodelling works are taking place in response to the ever increasing demand for beds.It adds that Saturday mass will continue to be celebrated and a dedicated oratory similar to other community nursing units will also be constructed.Councillor Tom Reilly says patients are dissapointed with the plans and is now calling on the HSE to reverse its decision
