There are just 25 orthopaedic beds available at Merlin Park Hospital despite the fact 6 thousand people are on waiting lists for outpatient services.

Galway TD Eamon O Cuív has revealed the extent of cuts currently impacting orthopaedic services in Galway.

The Fianna Fáil Deputy claims this is because of staff shortages and budget cuts and is having an enormous impact on elective surgery in the west of Ireland.

Deputy O' Cuív is now calling on the Health Minister to act immediately.
