Harkin and Gallagher to battle for last European seat in this constituency

Galway Bay fm newsroom – It's a nailbiting time for the remaining candidates in the European elections. In the constituency of Midlands Northwest, Luke Ming Flanagan is the only one to have made it over the line, and a fifth count is underway. Mairead McGuinness is expected to do better out of her Fine Gael colleague Jim Higgins' transfers, after he was eliminated, but Sinn Fein's Matt Carthy is expected to be elected tonight. And Independent Marian Harkin says she'll be battling Pat the Cope Gallagher for the last seat.
