Galway's city's Dominic Street reopened for all traffic before 11 am today (Sunday) after three units of Galway Fire Brigade were called to fight a fire in a restaurant there earlier this morning.

The alarm was raised shortly before 8 am and all those living in accommodation over Le Petite Rouge restaurant were quickly evacuated to safety.

The fire fighters quickly got the blaze under control but there has been severe smoke damage to the inside of the building.

Gardai at Mill Street say they are not treating the cause of the fire as suspicious.
