GARDA INVESTIGATION FOLLOWING SUSPICIOUS FIRE IN MERVUE

Gardai have launched an investigation following a suspicious fire in the Mervue area.

Three units of the fire brigade attended the scene of the blaze which caused extensive damage to two homes in McDonagh Avenue.

The alarm was raised at twenty past two and it was brought under control just before 5 this morning.

It's understood nobody was injured in the blaze which broke out in a garage adjoining the two properties.

Gardai have now sealed off the scene for a technical examination and are conducting house to house inquiries.
