GALWAY ULSTER BANK STAFF URGED NOT TO SIGN NEW CONTRACT

Date Published: 04-Nov-2009
Around 90 staff in the Galway branches of Ulster Bank are being advised NOT to sign new contracts which could see a reduction in the terms and conditions of their employment.
The Irish Bank Officials Association, the IBOA, is lashing out against the bank's new contract, which is being offered to its 6 thousand staff nationwide.
The union says management at the bank is trying to exploit the current recession, and make changes to working practices and pension benefits.
This morning, the IBOA lodged papers with the 'rights commisioner service' to commence legal action against the Ulster Bank group.
