Minister for Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht Jimmy Deenihan says there will be no U-turn on the turf cutting ban. The Minister made the comments at County Buildings this morning where he was met by up to 50 protestors from Galway, Roscommon, Tipperary and Kildare. There were brief but angry exchanges between the Minister and turf cutters who held placards and banners with 'Save our bogs' and 'keep rangers out'. He didn't stop to talk with protestors as he's launching the publication of the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage Survey of Galway, but has agreed to meet with turf cutters later.
