GALWAY SENATOR CALLS FOR CLARITY ON DATE FOR FAMINE COMMEMORATION

Galway Senator Lorraine Higgins is calling for a date to be set for Famine Commemoration Day in 2013.

She says a definitive date is needed from the Arts Minister Jimmy Deenihan in order to capitalise on the upcoming Gathering events.

The Galway East Labour Senator says it's a significant oversight.

She's now brought the matter before the Seanad and called for clarity on a date and venue for the event.
