Galway school's lovely tribute to remember local shop owner who kitted out students for decades
She left an unforgettable mark on the area
A Galway school has paid a lovely tribute to a local shop owner who kitted out their students year after school year.
Presentation College Headford remembered local woman Mary Joyce at the start of another school year in a unique way.
Mary Joyce, who was the proprietor of Kevin Joyce Fashions on The Square in the town, died over three years ago but has not been forgotten by the area when a new term is about to begin.
The school said: “Ahead of the start of a new semester, the Joyce family donated uniforms to PCH in memory of their beloved mother.
“She was known as Mary ‘Kevin’ by generations of PCH students because it was Mary from the Drapery Shop who has kitted them out in their uniforms for decades.”
Her RIP notice reads: “Mary Joyce (née O’Connor) proprietor of Kevin Joyce Fashions, The Square, Headford, Co. Galway, on 7th January 2023.
