Galway records second highest road fatality rate outside Dublin

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Gardai are appealing to all road users to take extra care as new data shows that nine people lost their lives on Galway roadways so far this year.

Outside of the Dublin region, Galway had the second highest number of fatalities, with nine recorded.

It follows Kildare and Tipperary where 10 road deaths were jointly recorded in each county.

Nationally, 118 people have been killed since the start of the year - seven more than the same time in 2012 - while 277 others have suffered serious injuries.

Gardai say this is not a driver or rider issue alone and that all road users need to take care as they share our roadways.
