A Galway company's noise pollution device could be about to silence boy racers. ICAN Acoustics of St Mary's Road in the city, has pioneered a device to measure noise pollution levels in cars and other vehicles. Fine Gael North West MEP Jim Higgins, a long campaigner against noise pollution, forwarded their idea to the Road Safety Authority himself after failing to get any response from cabinet ministers John Gormley, Noel Dempsey or Brian Lenihan. The RSA is now considering including the test in the NCT from next year. They're also recommending Gardai use it in road-side checks. MEP Higgins is delighted something's being done at last about the nuisance of boy racer cars.
