With the four senior All-Ireland competitions entering its final stages and the curtain seemingly set to come down on the most-strangest of sporting seasons, the GAA has been given the green light to try to shoehorn some more games into an already congested fixture calendar,

During level 5 restrictions, only adult inter-county action was permitted on the GAA front, meaning the minor and U-20 competitions fell by the wayside, but this week in a move which has caught competing counties by surprise, the GAA has been given the green light to resume its underage championships.

Of most significance from a Galway point of view at this stage is the confirmation that the U-20 All-Ireland Gaelic football final between Galway and Dublin will be played on Saturday December 19 in Croke Park as a curtain-raiser to the senior final.

Throw-in for the game, which will be televised live on TG4, is 2.30pm, and it will be followed at 5pm by the senior All-Ireland final, with that pairing being decided this weekend when Cavan face Dublin on Saturday in Croke Park; and Mayo take on Tipperary at the same venue on Sunday.
