Galway City Council services set to be phased back in

From this week's Galway City Tribune - As the country slowly begins the process of reopening in the coming weeks and months, so too do the many Galway City Council services that have had to be either scaled back or put on hold altogether.
Outdoor services in particular – including grass cutting, scheduled road resurfacing and major roadwork projects – were heavily impacted.
Next Monday, when phase one of the loosening of restrictions is set to commence, Council staff will begin these activities again, but will be constricted by continuing physical distancing measures to deal with the coronavirus outbreak.
A spokesperson for the Council told the Galway City Tribune that this Monday coming would not be a ‘big bang moment’ and that it would take time to get back to the level of service that existed before Covid-19 restrictions were introduced.
Grass cutting would recommence, but there would be priority given to parks and open public spaces, taking in grass verges that might impede public safety. This would be followed by a programme for housing estates before sports pitches and play areas were serviced, said the spokesperson. This is a shortened preview version of this article.
