The future of Toghermore residential facility in Tuam should become clearer in three months time.
The matter was raised at a private quarterly Oireachtas briefing attended by TDs and Senators from Galway and Roscommon at Merlin Park Hospital today.
Galway East TD Paul Connaughton says a review of all mental health services in Galway and Roscommon is due to be complete in three months time, which will also take the services of the Tuam residential facility into consideration.
A decision was made last December to wind down the 18 bed facility after a report revealed fire safety shortfalls.
In January, funding was sanctioned to address immediate fire safety issues at the which has enabled the existing residents to remain there.
Speaking after today's meeting, Fine Gael Deputy Paul Connaughton told Galway Bay fm news that all stakeholders including staff and patients should be involved.
