A City Councillor has expressed her disappointment that a funding decision for a dilapidated city footbridge will be delayed again.

The footbridge leading to the fisheries tower is hanging, which has prevented access to the building since 2007.

Although funding is available from the Fisheries Board for its design, further financial assistance is needed for its construction.

Councillor Catherine Connolly says the Failte Ireland board was due to consider the application at its monthly meeting earlier this month.

However a spokesperson for Failte Ireland says the item was not discussed and that a decision will not be made for some time.
