Former Labour candidate Fergal Landy to contest Galway East as an Independent

He says there's been no falling out with the party, but on this occasion it just wasn't possible to run as a party candidate.

Fergal Landy, who's based in Oranmore, has a background in community development, social work and human rights

He contested the recent local elections in Athenry/Oranmore for Labour, but was eliminated in the early counts.

Mr. Landy also contested the recent European Elections for Labour, but was again eliminated in the early stages.
