FIANNA FAIL LEADER ASKED TO INTVERVENE IN CITY PLANNING ROW

Date Published: 05-Jul-2011
The leader of the Opposition has been asked to intervene in a city re-zoning controversy. Residents Associations of Highfield, Maunsells and Shantalla have written to Micheál Martin asking him to direct Fianna Fáil city councillors not to re-zone a former timber yard on the Rahoon/Seamus Quirke road into a 'designated district centre'. The residents are vehemently opposed to Tesco's plans to build a €35m Hypermarket and petrol station on the site if it's re-zoned. The re-vote will take place next Monday at 4pm. In the meantime residents are holding a public meeting this Wednesday at the Ardilaun House Hotel at 8pm.
