FIANNA FAIL HQ REJECT PLEAS TO RUN VAL HANLEY FOR CITY COUNCIL

Solicitor Peter Keane has been selected to contest the local elections for the Fianna Fáil party in the newly formed Galway city West Ward.36 year old, Mr. Keane is originally from Maunsell's Road and lives in Taylors Hill.He was confirmed as a candidate following an interview process by party Headquarters.Peter Keane will be the only contestant in the city's West Ward which covers Salthill and Knocknacarra, despite Val Hanley putting his name forward originally.Mr. Hanley withdrew his name from the race for the new 5-seater ward before Christmas.However, it's understood in the past fortnight the local comhairle ceantair demanded that Val Hanley be considered by party headquarters.
