The supremely talented Martha Wainwright comes over to Ireland this February for a small run of dates including a show at Róisín Dubh on Saturday, February 2.

She’ll be joined by her new touring band; Jared Samuel (keyboards) – who also plays on her new LP – Brad Albetta (bass), Andrew Whiteman from Broken Social Scene (guitar), his wife, Ariel Engle (backing vocals), with the drummer yet to be announced.

Canadian/American Martha is the daughter of folk legends Loudon Wainwright III and the late Kate McGarrigle, and sister of acclaimed singer songwriter Rufus Wainwright.

In 2005, she released her self-titled debut album to much acclaim. It featured the visceral, brilliant single Bloody Motherf**king Asshole, written about her father and showcased a raw and powerful voice.

In 2008, Martha returned with the brilliantly titled I Know You’re Married but I’ve Got Feelings too. This record had a fuller sound than her debut, the sound of an artist who had toured around the world with her band. Yet Wainwright didn’t shy away from the frankness and wit that makes her song writing so appealing.

In 2009, Wainwright released a live album of Edith Piaf songs. As part of the tour for this record, she played a show in Sligo Live – it was an incredible gig from an assured, charming performer.

Tickets for Martha Wainwright’s show are available now priced €26/€24 members.
