An engine fault may have triggered a carriage fire which forced a Dublin bound train to make an emergency stop outside Athenry last evening.
The five-past-three Galway to Dublin train caught fire shortly after leaving Ceannt Station yesterday afternoon.
260 passengers were forced to evacuate while emergency services attended the scene.
Speaking to Galway Bay FM news, Barry Kenny of Irish Rail says that initial invesigations suggest that it was due to an engine fault on one of the carriages.
All services are operating as normal this morning.
