Education Minister Ruairi Quinn says the government is committed to completing the building programme which will secure Claregalway's first secondary school.

The Department of Education has been assessing sites for a permanent building which is expected to go to construction in 2014/2015.

However, until then, the students will be accommodated in temporary housing at a site in Claregalway.

County Galway VEC was announced as patron for the new facility in July and the enrollement process opened last month.

Speaking to Galway Bay fm news while officiating at a city conference this week, Minister Quinn says the temporary housing is only an interim measure and a new school will be prioritised for the area.
