An East Galway firm hoping to open a waste plant in Kilchreest is hitting back at opposition to the planning proposal by saying it will create 15 new jobs. Walsh Waste Ltd has lodged a second application for planning permission to convert an existing animal skin and hide curing plant in Kilchreest into a waste plant, despite being refused by An Bord Pleanála in March. Over a hundred people in Kilchreest and the surrounding areas are against the plans. In a statement Walsh Waste Ltd says the facility would bring much-needed recycling infrastructure to East Galway and would create 15 new jobs in the area.
